Employee Communication challenges.
Q: What are some of the communications challenges your hospital faces that you want to address with digital signage?
A: This digital signage project is primarily directed at communications with employees, though some of the signs will be in areas where patients can see them. But this first part of the effort is directed at improving internal communications. As a large organization we need to produce better system-wide communications with our employees--let them know what's going on outside their area--as well as helping the different facilities communicate facility-specific news.
Q: What are some of the specific concerns/challenges of some of the departments involved, such as HR, marketing, quality, etc.?
A: The concerns of these different groups vary some, but the unifying theme is that our employees have told us they don't have the information they need and want, and that the info they get is often not provided in a consistent, timely fashion. Our research shows the most common way our employees learn about everything from major initiatives to unit relocations is word of mouth. Most the people on this task force are looking for a way to get employees to pay attention to the information we are communicating--a very common comment from managers is, "I just don't know what to do. I have a staff meeting, I follow up with e-mail, I ask my staff to sign off and say they've read the e-mail, and then a week later I ask about X, and my staff says they have never heard anything about it."
Signage also will be used for patient safety campaigns (quality), employee recognition (HR), internal marketing of services (marketing), etc.
Q; Is there any information that we really need to focus on more than others?
A: What digital signage can do in terms of improving communications for employees; what needs to considered, planned, put in place to make signage in a health care settings successful, specifically in terms of placement, content, budgeting.
It's also important to have information on costs as we are just entering the budget process and I will need to estimate the cost of signage and add that to their budgets. Q: Do you have designers who can assist in digital signage message development?
A: Currently limited, but we are working to develop a shared core staff (shared among marketing, internal comm, HR, etc) of designers, content producers, and IT people, who can provide support to this and other efforts.// Q: What are your primary audiences you want to address with digital signage in order of importance (i.e. clinical staff, physicians, consumers, etc.)
A: clinical staff, physicians, other staff, patients. w where actual concerns of a large Hopital that Netpresenter was able to help. I am sure Netpresenter can help your company or organization !!
